National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed warehousing tractions of 6.9 mn sq ft in FY 2021, a
decline of 20% year-on-year (YoY) in comparison with 8.6 mn sq. ft. in FY 2020, in response
to a report by property marketing consultant Knight Frank.
E-commerce is reported to be the most important driver for the demand for warehouses. The
sector accounted for 61% of the area’s warehousing transactions.
In FY 2021, Third-Party-Logistics (3PL) gamers accounted for 26%. The elevated reliance on
on-line purchasing through the lockdown has resulted in lots of firms increasing their
last-mile-delivery footprint and drive increased volumes. 3PL gamers, servicing the
e-commerce sector are taking on Grade A warehousing house to make sure the seamless
growth of the last-mile-delivery mechanism.
“The disruption in economic activity caused by the pandemic has influenced lower than
expected transaction volumes for NCR’s warehousing market in FY 2021. While transactions
were mostly muted in the industrial sector, e-commerce witnessed an expansion in its
