NEW DELHI: Nearly three-fourths of ultra high-net-worth individuals (UHNIs) in India are
planning to buy a second home, with nearly every one of them budgeting upto Rs 50 crore
for the upgrade, said India Sothebys International Realty in its latest study.
The survey with 100 UHNIs during lockdown indicated that key preference includes more
open spaces, houses with large living and bedrooms, home office or study room, gym or
recreational activities and large staff quarters. In fact, they are looking for their second homes
out of the city limits although preferably within the driving distance.
“The respondents expect prices to fall in the immediate future and likely to rise after two years
if there are no further disruptions. They feel that real estate will remain an important asset
class and is the safest form of investment,” the report said.
